Rachel Schmidtke from Refugees International, stopped by to talk about her research for the report "Keys to a Protection-Focused Approach to Central America in the Biden Administration" and an overview of trends in Central America for more migration and recommendations on working with regional partners like Mexico and paying more attention to internationally displaced people.   • The report is set to be published Thursday, December 3, at 2:00 a.m. ET.  and can be found on their website
  • The Biden team has proposed a bold 4-year, $4 billion plan to provide assistance to Central America. The plan aims to address the factors that drive migration from the region and usher in a new era of U.S. leadership. Refugee International sights that meaningful change will take time, and Central Americans will continue to flee their homes in search of refuge in the years to come. "In fact, the number of Central Americans moving north to Mexico and the United States in search of protection will only rise".
