#VoicesAmplified is back with another RadioACTive takeover, featuring the rising journalists of Salt Lake Community College and Amplify Utah. Tonight they spoke with Luka Romney of Prodigal Press in Provo, as well as the filmmaker and subjects of Love One Another, a documentary about polyamory in Utah. Plus, #popculturenuggets on Superbowl LVI and its highly anticipated halftime show and the new anime film Belle.

Tonight's show featured the following people, organizations and/or events. Check them out and get plugged into your community!

Rising journalists once again took over RadioACTive for Voices Amplified, a collaboration between Salt Lake Community College, Amplify Utah and KRCL. Diversity, stories that matter, the things you care about — amplified. Listen to them every Monday night at 6 p.m. through SLCC’s spring semester at SLCC. To find out how you can get in on this class next time, contact Marcie Young Cancio, assistant professor at Salt Lake Community College and Amplify Utah executive director. Her email is marcie.youngcancio@slcc.edu.

Host Jonny Tollestrup spoke with Luka Romney of Prodigal Press, a Provo media collective with an emphasis on personal narratives and local art. According to their website, “Prodigal Press was founded by undergraduate students at Brigham Young University with the intention of providing a space for stories that are not featured in official university platforms. If you have a story to tell, message us on Instagram, send us an email (prodigalpressprovo@gmail.com).”

Based on a story co-published by The Globe, Amplify Utah and The Salt Lake Tribune, Tollestrup spoke with Amy Peterson about the documentary film she directed, “Love One Another, Polyamory in Utah.” Berck Forbes, one of the subjects of the film, joined the conversation.

#PopCultureNuggets, a segment where the show’s team talks about what they’re watching, listening to or reading these days. Check it out:

  • Digital Producer Sean Stetson is looking forward to Feb. 13 when the Cincinnati Bengals and the Los Angeles Rams go head-to-head in Superbowl LVI. “Notable fact for the game,” Stetson said, “Joe Burrow, quarterback for the Bengals, could be the first quarterback to ever win the Heisman Trophy, a college national championship, and a Superbowl. And, Burrow can do it all in just three years. A stunning player to keep an eye on.”

  • Show Booker Ariel Wilderburg is more interested in the Superbowl halftime show, featuring Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar, Mary J. Blige, and Eminem. A huge hip-hop fan, Wilderburg is hoping they’ll do Forget About Dre. Will they do Forget About Dre? Will NBC and the FCC let them? Definitely, one to watch.

  • Host Jonny Tollestrup recommended Belle, a 2021 Japanese animated science fantasy take on the classic Beauty & The Beast tale. It premiered at the Cannes Film Festival last summer, just hitting U.S. theaters last month. Box Office fact from Wikipedia: “Belle is the third-highest-grossing Japanese film of 2021, accounting for ¥6.53 billion in box-office rankings as of December 12, 2021.”
