In 1988, I was a freshmen at New York University. One day a friend ran into my dorm room and said, "David Bowie is doing a 2-day video shoot at The Ritz. Wanna go?" Clearly my answer was, "Yes." My friends and I dressed all in black and headed down to the club. For two days, we heard Bowie's new band "Tin Machine" lip synch to 2 new tracks.
In between takes Bowie would pick up his acoustic guitar, play some hits and sit on the edge of the stage and talk to the audience. Tin Machine revitalized Bowie's career going into the '90s. I'll never forget my time with The Thin White Duke.
Here's one of the videos. I'm audience left and you can't see me at all, but I looked really good.
