Last year marked John Florence's 50th year in broadcasting. Forty of those years were listening to, volunteering for, and eventually working at KRCL. This month, John celebrates 13 years as a Morning DJ on KRCL. Nine of those years hosting A Brand New Day.

On Oct 3, 2025, John will be stepping back from the weekday show A Brand New Day, and as he says, "shifting from his shift." You'll still be able to visit John in the "Tree House" every Saturday on the beloved program Saturday Sagebrush Serenade from 10am-1pm, as well as other exciting programming to be announced soon.

“The thing I have always loved about radio are all the fun different jobs there are,” says John. “I’m just shifting my shift from the daily radio program to a more thoughtful presentation where I can use all of my skills. That's how I got into radio – splicing tape in the production room."

John has, and continues to be, an important voice on KRCL. His deep musical knowledge, passion for the true meaning behind songs and his desire to connect with the community through music has earned him a devoted following of fans from, not only in Utah, but around the country.

We’re happy John will continue to bring listeners Saturday Sagebrush Serenade. It’s hard to imagine a weekend without his specials The John Prine Corner, Meditation for World Peace and Hot Tuna for Lunch.

More information about mornings on KRCL will be posted soon. But for now, tune-in for A Brand New Day and play ‘These Three Songs’ Tuesdays thru Fridays, 7am-10am and let's continue to enjoy and celebrate John and all of the wonderful music choices and stories that he shares with us. No one "surprises and delights" as they "paint with music" quite like him.

KRCL will also host a few upcoming opportunities for listeners and fans to come down and celebrate with John in person, including at KRCL's 'Day In The Park' on Aug 23 at The International Peace Gardens.
