Bailee Woolstenhulme of the Utah Department of Agriculture & Food. UDAF's Agricultural Water Optimization Grant provides grants of up to $500,000 for projects that reduce consumptive water use while maintaining or improving agricultural production and profitability while increasing operational flexibility for agricultural water users.

Christy Bills, aka The Bug Lady, on BOOPS, bugs out of place, and ways to work with them in the garden. Bills is the entomology collections manager at the Natural History Museum of Utah.

  • Aug. 12-13: BUGfest returns to Natural History Museum of Utah, 301 S. Wakara Way, SLC. "Insect and Plant Lovers, BUGfest is back! The Museum will be humming with bug lovers sharing un-bee-lievable facts about Utah's invertebrates and the plants they pollinate. We'll have expert speakers, displays of amazing specimens, our famous Bug Bar, face painting, craft activities, interactive learning opportunities, and hive fives all around. Community shout-out: Paint Your Heart Out with Jasmine Walton of NeighborWorks Salt Lake. 

  • Every August, over 250 volunteers from local businesses, community organizations, and corporations come together to paint the homes of individuals with disabilities, veterans, and limited-income homeowners in Salt Lake County in our annual Paint Your Heart Out event. Al's Urban Farm Report celebrates National Farmers Market Week, featuring Carly Gillespie and Nichole Matthews of Downtown SLC Farmers Market and Gabrielle James, Garden Program Coordinator, UoU Sustainability Office. 

  • Aug. 24: UoU Farmers Market opening day, linking local growers, artisans and resources for healthy lives with students, faculty and staff on campus. Market vendors provide on-campus access to diverse cuisines, as well as produce, baked goods, gifts, art and more, while local organizations and on-campus departments showcase the full range of resources available to students. Be sure to stop by Tanner Plaza, between the Student Services Building and the Union (west side) between 10a and 2p on Thursdays from Aug. 24-Oct. 5.
