Daniel Stergios on ZAP — Zoo, Arts & Parks — your tax dollars at work. Arts and cultural nonprofits are invited to submit grant applications now. 

  • April 30: Deadline for ZAP grant applications. The mission of the Zoo, Arts & Parks (ZAP) Program is to enhance Salt Lake County resident and visitor experiences through art, cultural, and recreational offerings. ZAP currently provides support for 232 arts and cultural nonprofits. To learn more, click here

  • March 16: 46th annual St. Patrick's Day Parade and Siamsa, 11a-5p at The Gateway, 400 W. 200 S., SLC. "This year's theme is "Celebrating Irish Hospitality." The parade begins at 11:00 a.m., with Siamsa to follow til 5:00 p.m. 20% of All Proceeds from DinnerTime go to the Hibernian Society of Utah and their efforts to preserve Irish Culture and Heritage."

Ireland's own Peter Donegan, who's spending the holiday once again in Australia at the Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show. It's the "largest and most prestigious horticultural event in the Southern Hemisphere." Donegan won Gold there last year, and this year his big plans are bigger, including a Piper PA-28 Cherokee plane at head height
