ACA Open Enrollment Facts, Butterflies to Support the DREAM Act, PANDOS, Transgiving, GendeRevolution Conference

  • An update on open enrollment and the Affordable Care Act with insurance agent James McDonald and Dr. David Patton of Molina Healthcare. Open enrollment ends Dec. 15. For free help, visit takecareutah.org or call 2-1-1.

  • DACA activist Ciriac Alvarez on Butterflies to Support the DREAM Act. Alvarez invites you to help her string butterflies together and write messages of support Saturday, Nov. 11, from 9 a.m. to noon, at University Neighborhood Partners, 1060 S. 900 W., SLC. She'll deliver the art project to the Utah office of Senator Hatch later this month.

  • Activist Cassandra Begay, co-founder of PANDOS, fresh off an interview with Pres. Obama. Begay attended the inaugural summit of the Obama Foundation earlier this month.

    • Nov. 19: PANDOS November Public Meeting, 1:00-3:00 p.m. at 423 W. 800 S., #A103, SLC. Subject: establishing goals and objectives for a Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women awareness campaign.

  • Sofia Scott and Sam Bingham, organizers of the inaugural TransGiving 2017 Extravanganza. This event gives a place for all transgender, non-binary, all queer-identified people and allies and supporters to come together in a day of giving thanks by way of food and entertainment from the trans community.

    • Presented by the Transgender Inclusion Project (TIP), in conjunction with the Utah Pride Center, Transgender Education Advocates (TEA) of Utah and Rock n' Roll Camp for Girls, TransGiving will be held Saturday, Nov. 25, from 12:00-7:00 p.m. at The Beehive Social Club, 666 S. State St., SLC

  • Rachel Edwards talks about the 9th Annual GendeRevolution Conference,which will be held Saturday, Nov. 11, from 8:45 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Salt Lake Community College South City Campus, 1575 S. State St., SLC.

    • Keynote speakers: Laila & Logan Ireland, a transgender couple serving in the military. Registration is $25, however, scholarships are available – click here to apply.
