Book Signing with author Wendy Davis - The Fight You Don't See

Wendy Davis's campaign was a long shot-the seated Republican who represented Utah's House District 45 was so popular that even her own party doubted a Democrat could win. But Wendy knew her community, and she knew they were ready for change. Despite her party's predictions, she knew she wouldn't lose in a landslide. She might even win. In 2019, she was ready to prove herself in an earnest, grass-roots campaign. She couldn't have predicted what would come next. From a global pandemic that shuttered offices and cancelled in-person events to overblown media stories and back-handed maneuvers from her own party, Davis faced one of the most challenging campaigns in Utah history. Through it all, she would prove that she was much more than an underdog. She was a fighter. A raw look behind-the-scenes of US electoral politics, The Fight You Don't See recounts Wendy Davis's bid to represent Utah's House District 45, documenting the hidden battles she faced before-and long after-Election Day. Join us in welcoming Wendy Davis to The Printed Garden to discuss and answer questions about her new book, her political career, and Utah politics. This event will begin at 7:00 p.m. and is free and open to the public.

Book Signing with author R. G. Tanner

Riley Jacobson was a normal twentysomething trying to get his life in order - however, he was haunted by a dream from his childhood, a dream in which two crimson eyes peered into his soul, telling him that he could "see." It felt too real, lingering with him throughout the years. Having squandered his youth on unimportant things, Riley decided to enroll in college and finally get a journalism degree, and reconnected with longtime friend, Erin, who always had intrigued him. Everything was normal, almost idyllic. Then, one day, while writing a paper on urban mythology, Riley fell asleep, and woke to an entity with those same crimson eyes boring deep into him. This entity informed Riley that he is an angel who has come to Riley due to his ability to "see," the meaning of which still eluded Riley. This angel is named Ingall and informed Riley that he is both human and divine. Riley must now learn to use his latent angelic talent, driven down a path of confusion, intrigue, danger, and faith by those piercing crimson eyes. Join us in celebrating the release of local author R. G. Tanner's debut supernatural thriller, Crimson Seal: The Broken. Tanner will read from, answer questions about, and sign copies of her new book. This event is free and open to the public, and will begin at 7:00 p.m.

Book Release Party & Comic Jam with author/artist Angie Sandberg

The Printed Garden is proud to collaborate with local author/artist Angla Sandberg on our very first Comic Jam! If you haven't attended a comic jam before, you're in for a treat. A comic jam is a spontaneous creative event at which a number of people collaborate on the creation (any combination of writing, drawing, inking, and/or coloring) of a comic book, working one after the other. In the jam, the first participant will draw either the first page or the first panel, and pass the page along to the second, who will produce the second page or panel, handing it along, in turn, to the third, who will pass it to the fourth, etc. until a number of completed pages are finished or the story has been brought to its conclusion. Participants can choose to take part in the writing process, draw, ink, color, or contribute however they feel they are best able to in order to bring the comic to life! Frequently, there simply is no script at all, and the panels are improvised as the creative process steams forward. Each participant will create his or her panel or panels based entirely on the preceding panels and story created up to that point. This Comic Jam will be facilitated by author/artist Angela Sanberg, who will also be apprearing to celebrate the release of her first Dash & Shanks mystery! Angie will talk about her own creative processes, the creation of the Dash & Shanks characters, and offer creative advice to aspiring cartoonists and zine creators. This event is free and open to the public, and will begin at 7:00 p.m. A good time is sure to be had by all!

Timber Ghost Press Authors Signing with Caryn Larranaga & L. V. Smith

About Caryn Larrinaga's Mouse Trap: Twenty years ago, Dakota Scott’s baby brother died falling down the back stairs. Twenty-four hours ago, her older brother, Lennox, wasted away into nothing in the same house. Two deaths, just floors apart, yet no one suspects a connection. Settling Lennox’s affairs lures Dakota back to the family’s old Victorian home overlooking Astoria. It has changed over the years–what was once a happy home is now filled with sadness, strange memories, and lights that won’t stay lit. In the ever-growing darkness, a sinister force has awakened from a long slumber, and is far from finished with Dakota. Fans of Shirley Jackson, Silvia Moreno-Garcia, and Elizabeth Engstrom will love the quiet horror in this modern gothic tale. About L. V. Smith's The Ebony Violin: When contacted about his uncle’s passing, Brandon Saint-Demers thrills at the prospect of finally meeting the family of a father he never knew. However, he soon discovers that he and his older brother, Robby, are the only surviving heirs to a massive fortune. Relishing their newfound wealth, the brothers soon discover that hidden beneath their ancestors’ noble legacy are ancient secrets that transcend the boundaries of past and present, living and dead. At the center of it all is a black violin, enchanted by the spirit of a sad, lonely woman who loved it more than anything. But was the beautiful virtuoso a victim of the evil at le Manoir de Saint-Demers? Or is she the very monster who haunts it? To save their lives and their souls, Brandon and Robby must uncover the ugly truth behind the Ebony Violin and learn to accept it or risk being enslaved by the insatiable music. Just as the summer begins to heat up, The Printed Garden is inviting a terrific duo of author from Timber House Press to put a little bit of chill back into the air. Please join us in welcoming authors Caryn Larrinaga and L. V. Smith to The Printed Garden on Friday night, June 21st to read from, answer questions about, and sign copies of their new books. This event is free and open to the public, and will begin at 7:00 p.m.
