From Bookish to Book Festival

Amanda and Whitney Warren, the sisters behind Bookish SLC, believe in reading as a social sport. For more than two years, they've been building community with reading parties (quiet reading together), book clubs (optional, themed), literary mixers (social, low-pressure). New this fall: Salt Lake Book Festival.

Since announcing, the Warren sisters have been slow-rolling the festival lineup, with new authors and events announced every Tuesday. RadioACTive talks with Amanda for the latest on the one-day celebration that’s equal parts literary event and neighborhood gathering.

New Naloxey-Boxey in SLC Aims To Save Lives

Fentanyl is the leading cause of drug overdoses in Salt Lake and across Utah. Salt Lake Harm Reduction Project is working to save lives and make naloxone more available by adding a third Naloxey-Boxey at Under The Umbrella Bookstore, 511 W 200 S, Suite 120, SLC. RA talks about the new partnership with Harm Reduction's MacKenzie Bray and Under the Umbrella's Kaitlyn Mahoney.

  • July 18: Good Trouble Lives On, A Teach-in | 11 A-1P @ Liberty Park, 589 E 1300 S (Rice Pavilion on northeast corner of the park), SLC. "A day of organizing in remembrance of Civil Rights leader John Lewis. Following in Lewis' footsteps of peaceful, non-violent action that challenges injustice (good trouble), we will hold a teach-in, create a huge human banner (11 AM), and enjoy some great music. Please join us for what is sure to be an amazing day. Performance by Pepper Rose at noon. Food Trucks on site. Tabling with partner organizations showing how YOU can get into Good Trouble daily."
