The way we speak here in Zion—in particular our dropped T's in words like mittens, kittens, mountains, Layton—is curious to some. So, for Pioneer Day, KRCL's Lara Jones has just one question: Is the Utah "accent" real? To find out, she spoke with Marianna Di Paolo, associate professor in the University of Utah’s Dept of Anthropology and director of the Intermountain Language Survey of Utah Speech:
