Punk Rock Farmer Friday, Eat Local Challenge, Festa Italiana, Grateful Tomato Garden Sandwich Party, State Fair Tomato Winners, Live Music from Andrew Wiscombe

Hosted by Lara Jones and Aldine, KRCL's Punk Rock Farmer, tonight's show featured:

  • Eat Local Week Challenge, with Downtown Farmers Market Manager Alison Einerson and Carly Gillespie of B.U.G. Farms.

    • From Sept. 9-16, Eat Local Week challenges you to to eat more locally produced food—which in turn supports our local farmers, producers, and economy. Need some ideas? Click here for a calendar of events, from the Taste of the Market & Perfectly Wild Produce Contest at the Downtown Farmers Market Sept. 9, to a free screening of "Food Chains" in English and Spanish, a farm-to-table dinner at the USU Botanical Center in Kaysville, or the Fermentation Festival at the Downtown Farmers Market Sept. 16.

  • Nick Fuoco and Zach Biljanic of the Italian-American Civic League talked about Festa Italiana, a celebration of the tastes, sounds and culture of Italy, Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 16-17, at The Gateway, downtown SLC.

    • Highlights include live Italian entertainment from Italy and around the world including Etnosound, Vincenzo Bencini & Luca de Paolis, Nino Lane Band, Joe Muscolino Band, and Italian opera performances. Also enjoy, food booths (15) highlighting the regions of Italian cuisine, Italian wine, arts & crafts, historical displays, live raffles, exotic Italian cars and much more.

  • Al's Urban Farm Report with Marybeth Janerich of Wasatch Community Gardens. She and Al entered tomatoes at this year's Utah State Fair and won!

    • WCG's annual Tomato Sandwich Party takes place on Saturday, September 9, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Grateful Tomato Garden, northeast corner of 800 S. and 600 E., SLC. Tomatoes, pesto, hummus, all in the garden!

  • Live music from Andrew Wiscombe, an ex-Army Sniper turned Utah-based singer-songwriter with a mission to unite the world through music. Check him out at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 11, at the Utah State Fair.
