  • Aug. 19: Sketch Cabaret Gallery Stroll After Party, 9 p.m. - 2 a.m. at Metro Bar (615 W. 100 South, SLC).

  • Aug. 20: Bluegrass concert at the Gallivan Center, presented by the Intermountain Acoustic Music Association. Music starts at 5 p.m. No ticket required. Bands playing include Pixie and the Partygrass Boys, Grape Grass, the Badly Bent, the Red Desert Ramblers and James Reams and the Barn Stormers.

  • Brown Bag Concert Series: Exchange Place Plaza. Concerts start at 12:15 p.m. Monday: Tablado Dance Company; Tuesday: Foreign Figures; Wednesday: B-Boy Federation; Thursday: Orphans Cabaret; Friday: Little Barefoot
  • Aug. 23: The Sundance Institute is showing We are X, a documentary about the how the band X Japan brought glam rock to Japan, at Red Butte Garden at 9 p.m. 
  • Aug. 25: The Salt Lake Arts Council’s Guest Writers series kicks off with University of Utah creative writing students. They will be reading from and discussing their work at 7 p.m. at Finch Lane Gallery.
