Chester Burnett, better known as Howlin' Wolf, was a legendary Blues singer, guitarist and harmonica player, from Mississipp.

Released in 1959, Moanin' in the Moonlight is a collection of previously issued sides for the Chess label. The songs that make up this great compilation were recorded in 1951, in Memphis, and Chicago. All but two were produced by the Chess brothers or Willie Dixon. The album has been reissued several times, including a vinyl reissue in 1969 titled Evil.
