Today's Desert Island Pick is the Grateful Dead’s live album, Dead Set. It came out on August 26, 1981.

Dead Set’s material is taken from the same set of concerts as the Dead’s previous live album, Reckoning. While Reckoning features only acoustic music, Dead Set is all electric. They pulled recordings from their 15th anniversary shows at Radio City Music Hall and Warfield Theater, in New York and San Francisco respectively, all recorded between September 25 and October 31 of 1980.

The album artwork is a well-loved rendition of Uncle Sam’s skeleton watching twilight over San Francisco, the back cover illustrating the same twilight, except over Manhattan and Brooklyn.
